爭取成立兒童事務委員會聯盟由多個關心兒童的非政府機構、專業團體、兒童組織及個人組成，聯盟於2007年4月4日兒童節召開的新聞發佈會上宣布成立，成員透過定期月會及工作小組商討策略、行動及計劃，如新聞發佈、論壇、意見書、立法會動議、出版刊物、傳媒採訪等等，把兒童的聲音帶進政府、議會及社區。聯盟成員一致認為香港應跟隨聯合國兒童權利委員會的建議，盡快成立兒童事務委員會或兒童事務專員，銳意透過法律依據的機制去監察、協調與兒童有關的事務，直接聆聽兒童的意見，捍衛他們的權利，為社會建立一個高度重視兒童的最大利益的文化。目前，聯盟共有24個組織成員及7位個人成員，他們包括：

 

The Alliance for Children’s Commission is formed by a number of non-governmental organizations, professional groups, children’s groups, and individuals who concern about children. Announcement of the Alliance’s establishment was made at a press conference on the Children’s Day in 2007 (4th April, 2007). Through regular monthly meetings and working groups, the Alliance discusses strategies and actions including press releases, forums, submissions, moving motions at the Legislative Council, publications, media interviews, to bring the voice of children into the government, Legislative Council and the community. Alliance members agreed that Hong Kong should follow the recommendations made by the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child, to set up a Children's Commission or Children's Ombudsman as soon as possible so that a mechanism with legal base is there to monitor and coordinate children related matters, listen to the views of children directly, to defend their rights, and to establish a culture where children's best interests are highly regarded.
